A: There are multiple use cases of social impact, but the above archi-

tecture goes through an agriculture use case. The main question and

problem statement is ‘How can a farmer who produces agriculture

products is fairly and ethically rewarded for their hard work and time’

The first part of the ecosystem is a farmer who would like to sell

his products through the blockchain system.

B: The request from the farmer will come to the public blockchain. The

platform allows the farmers to auction or negotiate globally/locally to

sell their products. All transactions are securely recorded within the

distributed ledger and verified by platform participants globally.

C, D: The whole end-to-end process is automated whereby the farmer

gets paid as per the agreed contract.

E: Last but not least is the end customer, who would like to buy the prod-

uct like a piece of fruit/coffee. The customer would like to know if the

product being bought has been produced from sustainable sources

and if the farmer was treated ethically and fairly by the business

before buying the product. The customer wallet or app can provide

an end-to-end supply chain of the product from its origin to the shelf

of the supermarket.

Business problem #3

Media and entertainment: With the advancement of digitalisation, the

media and entertainment sector has been substantially impacted by

piracy and infringements of intellectual property rights. There is also

a significant issue of monopoly of a few big brands who basically con-

trol the whole industry. This makes it near impossible for an indi-

vidual artist to get a break in the industry.

The whole industry also works on the influence and who know philoso-

phy. Independent artists have to work harder to get a break in the

industry and have to work harder than usual below the minimum

wage or sometimes for free.

Solution #3

Decentralised blockchain can solve some of the issues surrounding the

media and entertainment industry. The following architecture will explain

and provide insights on how blockchain-based solutions will disrupt the

media and entertainment industry and provide opportunities for creative

and artists personal (Figure 3.5).

A: Blockchain-based ecosystems have really disrupted the media and enter-

tainment market. It has provided a platform for individual artists to

launch their own products and buy/sell products through a marketplace.

One of the latest examples of the distributed network for the media and

entertainment marketplace is NFT as discussed in Chapter 1.
